Bedrock servers have dedicated configuration pages that are separate from Java — a grouped Settings page, a Gamerules page, and an Addons (resource/behavior packs) manager.
Server Settings
Click Settings in the sidebar. Settings are organized into groups:
General
- Server name and MOTD
- Max players
- Default game mode and difficulty
World
- Level seed
- World type
- Generate structures toggle
Performance
- Tick distance (simulation range)
- View distance (render range)

Network

Security

Gamerules
Click Gamerules in the sidebar. Each rule has a simple on/off toggle or number input:
| Rule | Default | Description |
|---|---|---|
keepInventory | Off | Players keep items on death |
mobGriefing | On | Mobs can break blocks (creepers, endermen) |
doDaylightCycle | On | Day/night cycle progresses |
doWeatherCycle | On | Weather changes naturally |
showCoordinates | Off | Show XYZ coordinates on screen |
pvp | On | Player vs player combat |
Addons (Resource & Behavior Packs)
Bedrock uses Addons instead of plugins or mods. Addons come in two types:
- Resource Packs — Change textures, sounds, and UI (cosmetic)
- Behavior Packs — Change game mechanics, mob behavior, crafting recipes (gameplay)
Installing Addons
1Open the Addons Tab
Click Addons in the sidebar.
2Upload a Pack
Click Upload and select your .mcpack, .mcaddon, or .zip file.
3Activate
Toggle the addon to Active to enable it on your server.
4Restart
Restart your server for the addon to take effect.
Note: Players may need to download matching resource packs on their client. The server can be configured to require resource packs on join.
Tip: Popular addon sources include MCPEDL and the Minecraft Marketplace.
